Four First-Round Pin-Wins in One Day.
I wasn’t able to watch the 9ers beat the cheese heads yesterday cause of Familia.
My son and I had planned to watch the game after his wrestling tournament, but the tournament ended up lasting from 6 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
It didn’t matter.
In honor of my Brother, SFM Jeff, who wrestled and fought in the schools, on the streets, in the penitentiaries, and inside of his own soul. R.I.P.
On Saturday, January 22, 2022, Benny threw himself into battle and won four matches via first-round pins.
He’s a 4.0 student. He is a kind, thoughtful human being. He is everything I wished I could have been but was too afraid to be.
After my Brother died dead-game, I asked Benny and Margarita if they wanted to honor their Uncle Jeff with the spirit of amor by wrestling in competitions. They were innocent babies, but they believed in Familia because their father believed in Blood, despite all of vida loca devouring us.
They became champions.
In 2014, Margarita won third place Bronze at the California State Middle School Wrestling Championship at Kezar Pavillion.
Ben has now gone beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Wrestling is a brutal beautiful sport; it is life itself. Ben lives while he lives, just as his uncle Jeff lived while he lived. Despite the changing times and the never-changing nature of Vida Loca, Familia continues to live in Spirit.
I miss you, My Brother. It’s as simple as that.
I gift you struggle, suffering, and the sublime.
Spirit Matters Most: Always in All Ways All Amor.
