Loved Ones,

Later this week, Marco will begin medical treatment at the University of California San Francisco hospital so that he undergoes the intense bone marrow transplant process.

We offer this information with all Amor and hope you will keep him in your prayers. Once he is admitted to the hospital, we will let you all know how you can specifically help.

This six-month process will start with more chemotherapy followed by an irradiation process which effectively removes Marco’s immune system from his own body. Soon after, the UCSF medical team will transplant the donor’s bone marrow into Marco’s body.

This will be the tough part. He will suffer. There is a twenty percent chance he will develop Host Versus Graft Disease, which is his body rejecting the new immune system.

Should he survive this month-long part of the process, he will require 24 hour round-the-clock care for four to six months in an out-of-hospital restful setting so that he can totally recuperate and begin a new life.
