Poem: Garden of Agony

“Garden of Agony”

I can say this, and it is nothing:

It doesn’t matter whether a man cries because he is sad or whether he is sad because he cries.

These spider symbols, these artificial devices, are meant to keep us stuck in a web.

Poetry, comedy, vanity, hypocrisy, stupidity are the best we can do with these spider symbols.

It is a foolish game, but it is the best game we got.

Caliban said to Prospero—you taught me to speak, and now all I know how to do is curse!

We need more than speech.

We need actions of Amor.

Only that breaks us out of the web.

Whether a man cries because he is sad or whether he is sad because he cries, it doesn’t matter. If he is in Amor, even the sadness, even the tears of blood flow out of Love.
